Join Selcuk for a day at work

Selcuk: Hello, my name is Selcuk! I'm 24 years old and I've been working at Fronius as an electrical engineer for a year and a half. I'm there to make sure the machines in the production line run smoothly.

For us, it's all about one thing, and that's accuracy. It's important that I do my job very precisely so that there are no errors in the subsequent process steps.

My job is very varied. We are a team of three, two technicians and one machine operator. Every week we are responsible for a different machine. It's great that I'm not always on the same machine - it doesn't get boring that way.

How did you come to Fronius?

Selcuk: I was always looking for a varied job where I could start the day with a smile on my face. Before that, I only worked on one machine, which was too monotonous for me. Now I look after many different systems, which I really enjoy! Fronius was recommended to me by a friend. It was immediately clear to me that this was the right place for me.

Why is your job the right one for you?

Selcuk: Because I like to learn new things and I like variety! I find it most exciting when machines are being set up, serviced or taken down. I can also ask my colleagues in process technology questions and find out even more details about the equipment.

What does a working day look like for you?

Selcuk: I take care of troubleshooting and maintenance on our production lines. I usually start with a tour of the machines for which I am responsible for that week. If a signal light flashes red or orange somewhere, there is a malfunction. I first examine the problem and get a clear picture. Then I fix the malfunction step by step. There are different types of faults, but I usually know what to do right away. When dealing with electrical equipment, I make sure that no one is in the vicinity and that the machine is not in operation. Sometimes it is also necessary to shut down the machine. I also safeguard mechanical parts. If it takes a little longer, I let my team know and then refocus on the work at hand. I'm happy when the machine is running again and my colleagues can continue working.

What skills does someone in your position need?

Selcuk: Accuracy and precise work are extremely important! We work with machines, some of which are very complex. Quick and easy is not an option here. I must work with great concentration and always double and triple check the result. Otherwise, it can happen that the error reappears after two hours. And, of course, good manual skills: Slotted screwdrivers, crosshead screwdrivers, Allen keys and machine wrenches are essential in any technician's drawer.

What do you appreciate about Fronius?

Selcuk: Continuing education and training play an important role at Fronius. Great importance is attached to ensuring that all employees are up to date with the latest technical developments and attend annual training courses. That way, any missing know-how is supplemented and you learn a lot - I think that's great!

What is your greatest professional challenge?

Selcuk: New, unknown problems occur regularly, requiring us to find a solution. This requires teamwork. We collect a lot of ideas - and one of them usually works. By exchanging ideas together, we achieve success.
